West Skyline area on a prominent point of land. Adjacent lots have both the Kachemak Bay view and the Alaska Range volcano view to the west. This lot has mostly just the K-Bay view but there is an airiness and sense of vantage point perch conveyed throughout the small street [looking between large spruce trees at sky on all sides]. The main view is across the side street, with the arterial Skyline Drive running behind the north side. The four shed dormer design mimics another Homer house, and the roof lines taken together form an irregular, quirky assemblage that fits into local vernacular and creates fun and intimate [and still usable] Second Floor room volumes. The design is calculated to appeal to a single or partnered empty-nester type common in the South Kenai Peninsula. The First Floor bedroom and bath close off from the adjacent living area to support enhanced privacy for guests or a roommate. There is room on the site to add outbuildings such as a greenhouse, garden shed and a carport or garage.
