A remote, rural district in Anchorage that is not connected by road to the rest of Hillside; features a wonderful natural setting, wildlife habitat and a smattering of houses on 1-acre lots. This house's lot, as with most home sites there has a territorial view to the west overlooking the Anchorage bowl, Cook Inlet and distant mountains beyond. There are a few trees but mostly there is rock and low natural groundcover. The road is above the site and the house is accessed by a long winding driveway. The driveway splits and the upper fork leads to guest parking and direct access to the Main Entry and Kitchen/Living areas. The bedrooms are arranged so that all of them have the best part of the view, except the Master Suite that has the entirety of the view. The Master Suite is a half level above the balance of the Upper Level, allowing 11 ft ceilings in the Kitchen and Dining below. The overall feel is classy yet informal, a sort of East Coast summer house vibe; and enough Alaskana to be respectable but not tacky.
